Refunds & right of withdrawal

Version 2026-09-02 — Sonsei.

Sonsei is not on sale yet — there is no checkout to take your money today. These terms are published in advance so you can read them before the storefront opens, and they take effect for orders placed from that day.

The short version: you get 30 days with the complete product before you pay anything, so once your licence has been delivered we do not refund it. If it does not work, that is a different thing entirely and we make it right.

Buying online in the EU normally gives you 14 days to change your mind, no reason needed. Digital content is the one exception: the right ends as soon as delivery starts, if you asked for immediate delivery and acknowledged that you were giving the right up. That is exactly what the tick-box at checkout says:

I ask Future Dynamic to deliver my Sonsei licence immediately, and I acknowledge that I lose my 14-day right of withdrawal once it has been delivered.

You choose that consciously, and your order confirmation repeats it so you have it in writing. Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU and article 6:230p sub g of the Dutch Civil Code are the rules being applied.

Until your licence is actually delivered, the right stands. If you order and then change your mind before the licence file has reached you, mail legal@sonseiaudio.com and we cancel and refund in full — no form, no questions. A plain sentence is enough: “I withdraw from my purchase of Sonsei, ordered on [date], order [reference].”

2. Why the trial is the answer to “but I could not try it”

The usual reason a refund policy has to be generous on software is that you cannot know what you bought until you have it. Here you can: the trial is 30 days of the complete product — nothing disabled, no crippled demo, no card needed. Whatever you would have found out in a refund window, you can find out before paying, on your own tracks, in your own room. That is deliberate, and it is why this policy can be firm without being unfair.

There is also nothing to “return”. A licence file cannot be handed back — once it is in your hands it works forever, offline, with no way for us to switch it off. A refund after delivery would mean paying you back for something you still fully have.

3. When we refund anyway

None of the above applies when the problem is on our side. You get your money back if:

Outside those, we will still read your mail. If you have a situation this page did not anticipate, tell us what happened — we would rather look at it than point at a clause.

4. What this policy cannot take away

Your statutory rights as a consumer are untouched by anything above. Under Dutch and EU law digital content has to be what was described and work as you could reasonably expect, and if it does not you are entitled to have it repaired, replaced, reduced in price or refunded — for as long as the law gives you, not for as long as a policy page says. This policy adds to those rights; it never replaces them.

5. How a refund is paid

Mail legal@sonseiaudio.com from the address you bought with, with your order reference and what went wrong. Approved refunds go back to the card you paid with, in full, with no handling fee, within 14 days of us agreeing to it — usually much sooner. Your licence is deactivated by agreement and you stop using Sonsei.

If you bought through a shop that resells Sonsei, the refund is theirs to give and their policy applies — but tell us too, because if the cause is the product we want to know.

Before you file a chargeback, please write to us. A chargeback on a digital purchase takes weeks and costs both of us; an email is usually answered the same day, and we have yet to meet a problem worth a bank dispute. Future Dynamic is a small business in The Netherlands — there is a person at the other end of that address.
